OUR APPROACH

Your Child’s Personal Awesomeness

We believe your child has something amazing to offer the world. Your child is talented, amazing, and ready to make a wonderful difference in the lives of others. We help your child to see this and give them the skills they need to unleash their ‘personal awesome-ness’ with others.  ASD can give your child super-powers to make a difference in the world!

OUR APPROACH

Learning Interpersonal Skills Can Be Super-Fun!

It’s not Maths or English or school… It’s learning how to have conversations, make new friends and overcome the interpersonal challenges we all face in life. We create a fun atmosphere and we play fun games. The more fun your child has, the more they will be keen to practice their skills and the faster they can make progress. That’s why we believe in the power of fun!

Improve Your Child's Social Skills

Your child’s current lack of skills does not mean that your child is unable to learn, rather it just means your child has not learned social strategies yet. Specific strategies can be taught to your child in a way that your child understands and they can be practised in a safe small group setting with other children.

Parents Trusting Their Intuition

Parents who have a child with Autism sometimes get a feeling that something is not quite right at school. It could be related to your child’s learning, home work, friendships or other school factors. We believe that parents need to listen to their intuition and take steps to address issues at school when they sense that something is not quite right. That’s why we love to check in with parents and get their thoughts and perceptions on what they are seeing at home, at school and in our courses.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you run courses within a Covid shutdown environment?

It’s easy. Most of our courses are designed to be run online using Zoom and other tools. Social situations can be created online just as effective as face-to-face. It takes a bit of organising, but once set up, it’s easy to run our courses online.

  • How do you arrange small groups to develop social skills most effectively?

We are very careful to work with parents before the start of each course to determine which children are most likely to learn well together. We consider factors like age, common interests etc., and when things need tweaking, we tweak them. We understand that social skills are learned together and that our children are on a path of growth. Sometimes the ride is smooth and sometimes it is bumpy, but together we can practice and develop our social skills.

  • How do you deal with social situations that go wrong (My child sometimes has a tough day)?

Everyone makes mistakes. Some of us make mistakes that are more obvious to others than we would like. The wonderful thing about these courses is that we learn together and we are all on the same side. Many of our students have ‘clunky’ moments while their social skills are developing, and that’s okay! That’s why we’re here.
