I’ve realised something weird lately. The children I work for always have parents who are 100% committed to them.
These parents are so keen for any ideas and strategies to help their child learn new skills and enjoy their lives.
It’s great that we want to support our child. Often, we need to support our child by doing the homework tasks that the speech therapist or the occupational therapist gave us. Other times we do need to help by teaching table manners and helping with homework from school etc etc.
But here’s the thing - There are also times to just enjoy our children and to switch off from supporting them and switch on to just being with them.
We only have our children with us for a few short years, and it’s important to take time out each day where we are not teaching them something new, but rather, just enjoying them.
Always remember that you are a limited resource and you only have a certain amount of time and energy to get by on. Your child is not expecting perfect parenting and we shouldn’t either. 😊
